Today is International Women’s Day and as a womanist and activist for women’s rights, I wanted to say how important this day is to acknowledge.
Women make up 51% of the world’s population, yet still women are treated unfairly all across the globe. Not too long ago, women were seen as second class citizens and only (slightly) acknowledged when they were tied to a husband or father. Today, women are still fighting for many fundamental rights.
My message for women today is this:
1. Consistently throw love on yourself. You are beautiful. You are loved. You have purpose.
2. Do your best to lift other women up. Understand that no two women are the same. The best thing you can do for another woman is to help her achieve her dreams and encourage her to remain positive.
